Everybody

officially came to life after founder Sam Rypinski and co-founder Lake Sharp first met in a feminist business class at the Feminist Center for Creative Work in the fall of 2015, and realized they shared more than just a non-traditional approach to business based on intersectional feminist principles.

Sam had already been developing the business model for EVERYBODY as an antidote to the oppressive gym culture that unfortunately often came with the healthy perks of his regular workout routine. Working out regularly at big-box gyms helped him stay grounded in his body for decades both before and after transitioning and he had a vision for creating a space where there didn’t have to be a toxic trade-off to enjoying the many benefits of working out.

Lake had a background teaching in the fitness industry but had grown tired of the pervasively sexist and elitist atmosphere of boutique gym culture and its exclusive, monocultural clientele. When they bonded over both being end of life caretakers to parents with dementia and mental illness, the ground was officially laid for what was to become EVERYBODY, a project born of a genuine desire to create brave spaces for all bodies to strengthen and heal and support people through every season of life.
